Brisbane - B1 Data Centre

The Syncom Brisbane facility is an Internet Data Centre (IDC) specialising in co-location from solo traders through to corporates with 300sqm of DC floor space.

Location: Milton, Brisbane

Technical space: 300m²

IT Load: 1 x 1MVA

Rack capacity: 160

Facility Manager: Justin Robertson

The History Of B1

B1 was established in 2010 when customers outgrew the current DC space and a bigger location was sought and Syncom B1 was opened. Originally operated by iCentre, Syncom took over in 2015 to continue operations of the B1 facility after a name change.

When the floods in 201# hit, Syncom B1 was one of the few datacentres to lie outside of the flood zone and not effected from the storms. B1 lies outside of all flood zones making it the reliable choice for critical hosting needs. To ensure future protection, B1 features both dark fibre and AirFibre to ensure that any future floods do not effect the facility.

Operating from dedicated power transformers supplying 1MW available power, B1 is currently a Tier II facility, with plans to upgrade the facility to Tier III if the need arises. B1 also features dedicated inrow APC UPS units and ample onsite parking.

APC Cabinets

Chosen due to their flexible configuration and ability to fit a diverse range of devices, Syncom uses the APC VX and SX Netshelter cabinets.

APC Power

Power is naturally a very vital component of a data centre, we run our APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in N+1 configuration, ensuring that should a fault occur with 1 unit, the other units have remaining headroom to take the load.

During a failure with utility power, the UPS takes the load while the generator starts up, when ready, usually 30 – 60 seconds later, the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) switches over to the generator until utility power is restored and stable.

Stulz Cooling

Designed on the hot aisle/cold aisle principal, our Stulz 110KW Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRACs) units in N+1 configuration keep supplying cool air to the front of the rack cabinets via underfloor air distribution, while the hot air exists the rear of the cabinet and returned to the ‘CRACs’ units to ensure supply of approximately 23.5% Celsius and 50% humidity.

Cisco Network

For your business, downtime is not an option. That’s why our Cisco powered network is constantly evolving to bring you greater network uptime, more capacity and faster response times than ever before.

We currently peer with multiple carrier grade partners, which allows us a truly multi-homed network for all traffic – local, national and international connectivity for your customers has never been easier. We offer varies data connection options such as Data Blocks/Per GB, 95th percentile and Open Pipe.
